Women's Volleyball Wins Second Straight Match With Four Set Victory Over Moody Bible

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team won its second straight match, defeating Moody Bible Institute in four sets in a non-conference match on Thursday, September 22 at the Goodman Center.  The victory raised the Lakers' overall record to 2-13 on the year.

The two teams were close in scoring early in the first set with RU leading 8-7, but the Lakers scored the next four points to begin to pull away and take control of the set, winning 25-13 to take a 1-0 match lead.

The Lakers were even more dominant in the second set, jumping out to a 9-3 advantage to begin the stanza behind four service aces.  RU kept up the momentum, pushing its lead to 15-5 and went on to win the set 25-8 to lead the match 2-0.

Roosevelt took a quick 4-1 lead in the third set, but the Archers fought to stay in the match and tied the set up at 12-12.  The Lakers looked to take control once again like in the previous two sets, building a 20-17 advantage, but Moody Bible had other ideas, scoring five of the last seven points to win 25-22 and stay alive in the match.

The fourth set saw the Lakers score the first 11 points with the Archers cutting that margin down to six points at 19-13.  However, RU closed out the set to win 25-14 and take the match in four sets.
