ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS MANDATORY DAY-OFF POLICY
Roosevelt University, alongside the NAIA, believe in the value of providing one day off per week for all student-athletes. As such, all athletically related activities shall be prohibited during one calendar day per week. Prohibited day off activities include any required activity with an athletics purpose, involving student-athletes and at the direction of, or supervised by, any member of members of the Roosevelt coaching staff, administration, or other Roosevelt representative. As per the NAIA, a week is defined as Monday (12:00am) through Sunday (11:59pm) where Roosevelt University shall prohibit all athletically related activities 1 calendar day per week.
Activities not allowed on the day-off include, but are not limited to:
- Practice
- Skill Instruction
- Weight Lifting/Conditioning monitored by coaches or other staff
- Film Sessions
- Walk Through
- Team Meetings of an athletic nature
Activities that are allowable on a day-off include, but are not limited to:
- Team Meetings that are not athletic in nature
- Athletic Training & Rehabilitation
- Academic Meetings
- Compliance Meetings
- Community Service
- Study Tables
- Competition Travel
- Team Bonding/Leadership Events
Specific time periods that are exempt from the Day-Off Policy and do not require a day off include:
- Preseason practice that occurs before the start of classes
- During participation in one postseason and conference tournament and during participation in NAIA tournaments
If a student-athlete believes the Roosevelt Athletics Mandatory Day-Off Policy is being violated, they should contact the Associate Athletic Director, Kyle Decker via email at kdecker03@roosevelt.edu or they can confidentially report the potential violation using the Confidential Athletics Reporting Tool
