Women's Volleyball Loses CCAC Conference Match to St. Francis in Straight Sets

JOLIET, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team dropped its second consecutive CCAC Conference match, falling to the University of St. Francis in straight sets on Thursday, September 8 at the Sullivan Center.  The loss kept the Lakers winless with an overall record of 0-11 and 0-2 in conference play.

Things started out promising for the Lakers as they led 7-5 early in the opening set.  However, the Fighting Saints scored 10 of the next 11 points to go in front and led 23-12 late in the set.  RU attempted a comeback, pulling to within 24-20 but dropped the first set 25-20.

In the second set, the Lakers erased a 4-1 deficit to take a 9-5 advantage and led 14-8 later in the stanza.  St. Francis cut the margin to 16-14, but Roosevelt was in the driver's seat with a 23-20 lead after two straight kills by Logan Cofield.  Unfortunately, the home team rattled of the next five points to steal the second set and lead 2-0 in the match.

Once again in the third set, the Lakers came out with the momentum and took a 6-1 lead with Cofield tallying three more kills.  St. Francis roared back again, taking a 10-7 lead and pulling away for the 25-14 set win to sweep the match.
