Women's Volleyball Honors Senior Class; Drops Season Finale to St. Ambrose

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team honored its senior class of Kaila Beckwith, Jesse Neugebauer, and Mandy Stahulak in a pre-match ceremony on Thursday, November 4 and then closed out the 2021 season with a straight set CCAC Conference loss to St. Ambrose University at the Goodman Center.  The Lakers ended the season with an overall record of 3-26 and a conference record of 0-18.

In the opening set, the Fighting Bees scored the first three points and extended their lead to 11-2.  The Lakers were unable to overcome the early deficit and St. Ambrose controlled the rest of the set, winning 25-12.

St. Ambrose continued its momentum into the second set, opening a 6-0 advantage before a Kara Sleeper kill got the Lakers on the board.  Roosevelt climbed back into the set, tying things up at 13-13, but the Fighting Bees answered with seven straight points to regain control of the set.  Roosevelt cut the deficit to 21-17 only to have St. Ambrose go on another run and win the set 25-18.

The two teams were deadlocked at 4-4 early in the third set before the Fighting Bees scored nine consecutive points to build a 13-4 lead.  Roosevelt was once again unable to recover with St. Ambrose going on to win the third set 25-11 to sweep the match.
