Lakers Can't Keep Pace with Olivet Nazarene in CCAC Conference Women's Volleyball Match
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team continued with CCAC Conference competition on Saturday, September 11, losing to Olivet Nazarene University on the road in straights sets. The Lakers are now 0-4 in the CCAC and 2-10 overall this season.
The Lakers fell behind 4-0 to begin the first set and closed to within 6-4 before the Tigers once again extended their lead six points. However, RU cut the deficit to a single point at 15-14, but ONU scored 10 of the last 12 points to win 25-16 to take a 1-0 match lead.
The second set saw the Tigers jump out an early lead once again, but then the Lakers went on a run to go ahead at 7-4. The Tigers came back to score six straight points to lead 10-7 and controlled the set the rest of the way, winning 25-17 to lead the contest 2-0.
In the third set, the Lakers trailed 3-2 early on before the Tigers opened up a 10-point lead at 20-10. RU scored seven of the set's last 12 points, but it was too little, too late as ONU won the set 25-17 to sweep the match in straight sets.
