Lakers Lose Two Matches in Siena Heights Women's Volleyball Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team began play in the Siena Heights University Invitational on Friday, September 3, losing to both Spring Arbor University (Mich.) and hosts Siena Heights in straight sets to fall to 1-6 on the year.

The Lakers led briefly in the opening set versus Spring Arbor and were even with the Cougars at 16-16.  Spring Arbor took over the set with six straight points to win 25-18 and carried that momentum into the next two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-13 to win the match.

In the second match of the day, the Lakers fell behind early in the first set and were unable to recover, losing 25-18.  The second set was a marathon battle with RU serving set point four different times, but the Saints outlasted the Lakers to win 31-29 to take a 2-0 match advantage.  Siena Heights jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the third set, but the Lakers scored the next four points to even the score at 6-6.  Unfortunately, SHU controlled play the rest of the way to win 25-17 and win the match in straight sets.
