Women's Volleyball Drops CCAC Conference Opener to Lincoln in Five Sets

LINCOLN, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team lost its CCAC Conference opening match to Lincoln College in five sets on Wednesday, September 1.  The loss drops the Lakers overall record to 1-4 and their CCAC record to 0-1 on the year.

The Lakers narrowly dropped the first set 27-25 after leading 24-22 late and serving for set point on three occasions.  However, the Lynx scored the set's final three points to take a 1-0 lead.

Roosevelt built another lead in the second set and led 20-15 before Lincoln made another run.  This time, the Lynx scored six consecutive points to take a 21-20 advantage and then scored four of the final five points to lead the match 2-0.

The third set saw the Lakers fall behind early and trailed 22-20 late, but the visitors were able to come back and win the set 25-23 behind two kills each from Alyssa Stilley and Kara Sleeper to account for four of RU's final five points.

RU opened up a 10-point advantage in the fourth set and looked to be in control, but the Lynx made things interesting, breaking three set points before falling to the Lakers 25-22.
