Bruno Earns Fourth Scholar-Athlete Honor
CHICAGO – Roosevelt senior Beatrice Bruno was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete for a fourth time overall, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Oceanside, Calif. native earns her second track & field Scholar-Athlete distinction after joining the team last year. She was also a two-time Scholar-Athlete in basketball, earning the honor in 2021-22 and 2022-23. At the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships earlier this month, Bruno set her personal bests in the 100 meters and long jump, and she was part of the 4x800-meter relay team that finished fourth in the conference.
Per the NAIA, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
