Lakers Compete At Heenan Invite
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Roosevelt's indoor track & field season kicked off again in 2024 at the Pat Heenan Invite hosted by North Central College in Naperville.
Angela Louis won the Lakers' only point at the meet with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a blazing time of 28.69 seconds. Louis then finished 13th in the 60-meter dash to complete her day.
In the men's 60-meter dash, Geremy Gomez came within .01 seconds of the school record during the qualifying heats, finishing fourth with a time of 7.31 seconds. Gomez ran the finals in 7.36, but fell to 19th place. He finished the day by winning his heat in the 200-meter sprint in a time of 24.37 seconds.
Other notable results included Beatrice Bruno finishing 15th in the 400 meters and Millicent Ghapson finishing 11th in the high jump.
Roosevelt will compete next on Friday at the Olivet Nazarene Invite hosted in Bourbonnais.
