Lakers Take Down North Park In Tight Matches

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt women dominated the bottom half of the singles lineup to cruise to a 7-2 win over North Park on Thursday night at XS Tennis.

The Lakers led 2-1 after doubles play thanks to a dominant win by Grace Hahn and Alejandra Chavez at the No. 3 position. In the top two spots, Roosevelt split a pair of 8-7 decisions against North Park as Malena Moya and Ximena Mercado won at No. 2 right before Teodora Petrica and Alyssa Owens fell at No. 1.

Chavez didn't drop a single game at No. 5 singles in a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Moya lost just once in a 6-0, 6-1 win to put the Lakers up 4-1. Shortly thereafter, Mercado secured the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.

Roosevelt tacked on two more victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles in much tighter matches. Fabiola Rivas battled to a 6-4, 6-4 win at the top position and Owens pushed through for a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 to finish out the match. Hahn played No. 3 singles and dropped a three-set affair to the Vikings.
