Bejarano's Hat Trick Powers Lakers' Rout Of Titans

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Roosevelt's offense exploded for three goals in two minutes to ease past Indiana South Bend 7-1 on Tuesday in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup in South Bend, Ind.

The Lakers (4-5-0, 2-3-0 CCAC) were dominant for the entire game, but it took them more than 30 minutes to crack the Titans backline. Brenna Rohloff started the scoring spree with a free kick goal for the first goal of her collegiate career. Within two minutes, the lead was 3-0 as Daisy Hernandez-Loya added a quick second and Darien Lucas scored off a corner kick.

Nyah Bejarano started the second half with a bang with her second goal of the season and Hernandez-Loya quickly followed with a second goal in the game. Bejarano closed the scoring with a pair of goals for her first career hat trick. The junior also added an assist on Hernandez-Loya while Hernandez-Loya assisted on Lucas' first-half tally.

Gris Gurrola earned two assists while Paola Macias and Becca Simpkins added assists as well. The Lakers finished with a 31-11 advantage in shot attempts and forced 15 saves out of the Indiana South Bend goalie. Roxana Herrera made seven saves in goal for Roosevelt, allowing only a late penalty kick to spoil the clean sheet.

Roosevelt returns to the pitch Saturday for a Homecoming showdown at Morris Field with No. 18 Olivet Nazarene at noon.
