Women's Soccer Drops CCAC Conference Game to Holy Cross

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer team could not overcome an early deficit, falling on the road to Holy Cross College by the score of 5-1 on Wednesday, October 12 at Saints Field.  The Lakers are now 3-3-2 in conference play and 3-5-3 overall this season. 

The Saints struck early on a counter attack in the second minute to take a 1-0 lead and added goals in the 20th and 30th minutes to raise their advantage to 3-0.  In the 37th minute, Lola Arreola headed in a Nyah Bejarano corner kick to cut the deficit to 3-1 for the Lakers.  However, Holy Cross added a fourth goal two minutes before half-time to lead 4-1. 

 Roosevelt was whistled for a foul in their penalty box just over three minutes into the second half, and the Saints buried the penalty kick for the 5-1 margin.

  • Lola Arreola scored the Lakers' lone goal for her third of the season 
  • Nyah Bejarano picked up her team leading sixth assist on the year 
  • Roxana Herrera started & played the first 45 minutes in goal, allowing four goals & making three saves 
  • Gaby Aguinaga-Hernandez played the second half in goal for RU, making two saves & allowing one goal 
  • HCC outshot RU 17-13 & held a 5-3 corner kick advantage
