Bio
Marcus Summers enters his first season as a Roosevelt women's basketball assistant coach in 2023-24.
Summers has worked in the fitness industry for 15 years with experience coaching and training at all levels of competition. He competed on the court for Purdue Northwest while obtaining three degrees from the school. In addition to his help on the court, Summers will oversee and implement the strength and conditioning protocols for the women's basketball program.
He is no stranger to Roosevelt, having joined the university as an advisory board member in the Bachelor of Arts in Exercise, Nutrition, and Health Science (ENHS) program in 2019. In 2022, he joined the school's faculty as an adjunct professor in the College of Science, Health, and Pharmacy and will serve in that role in addition to his duties with the women's basketball program. Summers is also a Fitness, Health, and Science Advisory Board Member for Roosevelt University, along with holding similar positions at Malcom X College in Chicago and his alma mater, Purdue Northwest.
While at Purdue Northwest, Summers received his associates degree in Nutrition, Fitness, and Health, his bachelors degree in Fitness Management while also playing for the Pride's basketball program. He later earned his MBA from the school in 2020 and is certified in basic life support, as well as a TRX and Kettlebell instructor.
Summers is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having served one tour of deployment in Iraq in 2003 while serving with the United States Army from 2002-2008.
