Lakers Set Program Record With Win Over Trolls

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Roosevelt set a program record Saturday afternoon with its eighth straight win by defeating Trinity Christian 67-41 in Palos Heights in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

The Lakers (13-9, 11-3) won all four quarters against the Trolls and were led by 19 points from Malou Savanna in the victory. Kristen Keys and Marie Outlay added 13 points each for Roosevelt, which moved into a tie for second place in the conference with the victory. Ella Pritchard led the Lakers with 10 rebounds, including six on the offensive end of the floor.

The defense led the way for the Lakers with Outlay again showing off her thievery skills with a team-best five steals. The freshman played a key role in Roosevelt forcing 30 turnovers from Trinity Christian and turning those into 32 points. Outlay was especially productive in the third quarter with seven points and three steals coming in that 10-minute stretch.

Roosevelt surrendered the first points of the contest, but cruised from there against the Trolls. Keys got the ball rolling for the Lakers with seven points in the second quarter and Savanna added five in the frame to give the Lakers a 16-point halftime cushion. The lead grew to as many as 28 in the third quarter before Savanna closed out the game with 10 fourth-quarter points.

The Lakers will try to extend their program-record streak Wednesday evening at the Goodman Center when Roosevelt welcomes crosstown rival Saint Xavier for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
