Women's Basketball Falls to Indiana Northwest in CCAC Conference Action
CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University women's basketball team played their first game in over a month, losing to Indiana University Northwest by the score of 82-66 in a CCAC Conference contest on Wednesday, January 12 at the Goodman Center. The Lakers are now 5-8 overall and 4-5 in the CCAC this season.
The Lakers took a 3-0 lead to start the game on a three-pointer by Gabrielle Beggs, but the RedHawks took control of the game by scoring 28 of the next 31 points to build a 28-6 advantage and led 30-8 at the end of the opening quarter.
Roosevelt came back with an 8-2 run to begin the second quarter behind two Shawna Conger three-pointers and two free throws by Beggs. The Lakers went on to outscore Indiana Northwest 23-20 in the period to trail 50-31 at the half.
The third and fourth quarters were also closely contested, but the Lakers were unable to overcome the large first quarter deficit, dropping the conference game 82-66.
