Roosevelt's Skid Hits Six On Tough Florida Trip
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Roosevelt's losing skid was extended to six on Thursday after dropping games to Siena Heights and Keiser during the team's spring break trip to the USSSA Space Coast Games in Melbourne, Fla.
The Lakers (3-11) were competitive in both defeats until the later innings when both the Saints and Seahawks tacked on runs. Siena Heights scored three in the second inning before adding on four in the final frame to win 8-0. Keiser led 1-0 through five before adding five more runs in a 6-0 victory over Roosevelt.
Athena Pomele-Pen and Emily Zuniga were the only two players to register a hit in the loss to Siena Heights. Kate Sisson struck out seven batters in six innings of work and was tagged with five earned runs of the eight that scored against her. Nicole Reynolds retired all three batters she faced after relieving Sisson in the seventh inning to close out the game.
Scout Kram went 2 for 3 in the loss to Keiser with Anaisa Lozada, Samantha Norman, Bailee Reynolds and Emily Zuniga also contributing hits. Norman struck out six batters and allowed just seven hits in five innings in the circle before Reynolds relieved her in the sixth.
Roosevelt will close out its annual spring break trip Friday with matchups against St. Francis (Ind.) at 9 a.m. and Dakota Wesleyan at 1:30 p.m.
