Lakers Sweep Lincoln in CCAC Conference Doubleheader Behind No-Hitter by Kate Sisson & Seven Runs Batted In From Kirstin Fudge

LINCOLN, Ill. – The Roosevelt University softball team swept a CCAC Conference doubleheader from Lincoln College on Tuesday, April 26, winning 11-0 and 5-1 to push its winning streak to four games.  The Lakers are now 11-8 in the conference and 18-15 overall this season.

Kate Sisson dominated the Lynx from the circle in game one, throwing a five-inning no-hit, shutout to go with six strikeouts.  Meanwhile, the Lakers offense scored all the runs they would need with a run in the first inning and four more in the second.

In the first inning, Destini Nolan and Anaisa Lozada hit back-to-back singles and Brynn Dvoracek reached on an error to bring in Nolan.

Roosevelt took control of the game in the second inning with Brielle Carre singling to lead off and scoring on a fielder's choice during Jessica Schneider's at bat.  Nolan followed with a base hit to right field to drive in Emily Zuniga, who reached on an error earlier in the inning.  Anaisa Lozada brought in Schneider with a sacrifice fly to right field and Nolan scored on a Kirstin Fudge two-out single.

The Lakers had another four-run outburst in the fourth inning, which started with Dvoracek singling in Nolan, who reached on a Lynx error.  Another Lincoln error allowed Lozada to score after reaching on a base hit and stealing second base, while a wild pitch scored both Dvoracek and Fudge, who had each walked, for a 9-0 lead.  Two more runs by the Lakers in the fifth inning put the game completely out of reach with Fudge singling to left field to bring in both Schneider and Nolan, who both walked to lead off the inning.

Game two of the day was an old-fashioned pitcher's duel through four innings with neither team able to score a run in the ballgame.  With starting pitcher Samantha Norman holding the Lynx scoreless, the Lakers finally broke through with two runs in the top of the fifth inning with Fudge reaching on an error, scoring Farmer and Zuniga, who reached on a fielder's choice and double respectively.

Lincoln got on the board with a solo run in the bottom of the sixth with the help of two walks, but Roosevelt added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win.  Farmer walked and scored on a Fudge double to left field, and pinch runner Emma Wokurka scored on a sacrifice fly by Athena Pomele-Pen and Nolan followed with a single to drive in Kawka.
