Softball Drops Pair of Games With Losses to Concordia & Northwestern

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Roosevelt University softball team dropped a pair of games in five innings on Monday, March 7, losing to Concordia University (Neb.) by the score of 11-1 and to Northwestern College (Iowa) by the score of 8-0 in Tucson, Ariz.  With the losses, the Lakers fell to 2-4 on the year.

CONCORDIA (NEB.) GAME RECAP

The Lakers scored their only run in the top of the first inning to take a brief 1-0 lead.  Kirstin Fudge singled home Anaisa Lozada, who had reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base.

Concordia erupted for nine runs in the second inning to take a commanding lead.  The Bulldogs put together the big inning behind seven hits and two errors by the Lakers, and then added to their lead in the fourth on a two-run homer for the 11-1 win.

NORTHWESTERN GAME RECAP

Northwestern scored all of its runs in the first three innings with a single run in the first, three runs in the second, and four runs in the third to build an 8-0 lead. 

The Lakers were unable to generate any offense and were held hitless and scoreless in the game, only reaching base on a walk and two errors in the contest.
