Softball Continues to Roll with Non-Conference Doubleheader Sweep of Cardinal Stritch

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader for the second day in a row, knocking off CCAC member Cardinal Stritch University 5-4 in nine innings and 8-0 in six innings on Wednesday, March 10 at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.

After surrendering a run in the top of the first inning of game one, the Lakers came back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The inning was keyed by triples from both Anaisa Lozada (SO/Bensenville, Ill.) and Kassie Kawka (JR/Palos Hills, Ill.). Roosevelt was held scoreless for the next seven innings, while Cardinal Stritch tied the game with three runs in the sixth inning. However, Jessica Schneider (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the ninth and scored on a throwing error during Lozada's sacrifice bunt to win the opener.

In game two, the Lakers got a combined, two-hit shutout from pitchers Hailey Getz (JR/Evergreen Park, Ill.) and Kate Sisson (SO/Martinsville, Ind.) with each going three innings. Meanwhile, the offense put up four runs in the third, three in the fifth, and one run in the sixth to win an 8-0 run-rule game for the team's fourth straight victory.
