CHICAGO – Roosevelt was able to hang tough with No. 10 Saint Xavier early, but it was not enough in a straight-sets Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss to the Cougars on Saturday in Chicago.
The Lakers (8-14, 1-6 CCAC) trailed just 13-11 in the first set before the Cougars went on a run to win the set 25-14. It was 15-11 in the second before Saint Xavier went on to win 25-19 and the scoreline was just 14-13 in the third set before the Cougars took that set 25-19 as well.
Andrea DiPaola led the Lakers with nine kills and a .185 hitting percentage and no other Roosevelt player had more than four kills. Lachlan Diamond had three blocks, including two solo stuffs, to finish second on the team with 5.5 points while Miguel Mendez Palencia finished with seven digs to lead the squad.
The Lakers return to the court Thursday evening at 6 p.m. against No. 7 Georgetown back at the Goodman Center.
