Lakers Fall To Crimson Wave In CCAC Road Contest

WHITING, Ind. – Roosevelt dropped its second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup of the week in a tight three-set defeat at Calumet St. Joseph on Thursday evening.

Andrea DiPaola led the Lakers (8-11, 1-3 CCAC) with 13 kills and Diego Esquivel added 10 kills as well in the loss. Lachlan Diamond slammed down five kills on eight errorless attempts and also added three blocks while Michele Bascape dished out 29 assists and Esquivel served up four aces. DiPaola led Roosevelt with four digs in the match.

The Crimson Wave struggled to shake away the resilient Lakers despite the sweep as Roosevelt clung within striking distance the entire match. One critical 4-0 run in the middle of the first set was the difference in a 25-20 Calumet St. Joseph win in the opener. It was a late 3-0 run that proved costly for Roosevelt in the 25-23 second-set loss before the Crimson Wave won the final set 25-21 after winning 10 of the final 13 points.

The Lakers will try to snap their skid Tuesday night back at the Goodman Center when they welcome Judson for a 7 p.m. match.
