Bascape Named CCAC Setter Of The Week

CHICAGO – Roosevelt junior setter Michele Bascape was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Setter of the Week for the week of Feb. 26, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Rho, Italy native started out the week strong with 37 assists in a three-set win over Trinity Christian on Feb. 26. He continued by dishing out 49 assists in a tough five-set loss to Viterbo and also contributed nine digs and a block against the V-Hawks. He ended the week with five assists in limited time against Maranatha Baptist while the Lakers rotated players into the lineup.

It is the first weekly honor of Bascape's career and the second one for Roosevelt this season after Lachlan Diamond was the league's first Defensive Player of the Week this season.

"Michi continues to put his hitters in positions to score as he has done so all season," Roosevelt head coach Kelly Magliano said. "We are always excited when the league takes notice of the hard work are players put into the season, and are happy for Michi that he was recognized for his play last week."

The Lakers will face Olivet Nazarene at the Goodman Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in their first of two conference matches this week.
