Men’s Volleyball Closes Out Its Season at Lincoln College
LINCOLN, Ill. – The Roosevelt Lakers men's volleyball team trekked down to Lincoln College to take on the Lynx to close out its 2022 schedule on Tuesday, March 22. Despite a late rally by the Lakers, the Lynx prevailed, three sets to none.
The Lakers pounced on the Lynx early in the first set taking a 2-0 lead on a kill by Shawn McCarthy. The Lynx fought back, but the Lakers kept things tied up at five apiece behind a kill and block from Drake Schleihs. However, the Lynx were able to find their offensive groove en route to a 25-9 victory in the first set.
Lincoln maintain its momentum going into the second set. Kayan Abdou paced the Lakers with a kill and a block during the frame, but the Lynx proved to be too much, closing out the set 25-9 to take a two-set advantage.
The final set saw Roosevelt battle back, led by three kills from Tony Galeana. The third set was a true back-and-forth affair, as neither team was able to gain a sizable advantage early on. Tied at ten each, the Lynx were able to accrue a three-point margin. The Lakers did not quit, keeping things as close as 19-20, but the Lynx were able to finish the set on a five-point run to claim the match in three setss.
