Lakers Succumb To Tigers Attack At Home
CHICAGO – The Roosevelt Lakers men's volleyball team dropped a tightly contested match against the Olivet Nazarene Tigers on Tuesday, March 15th. It was a close affair played at the Goodman Center in downtown Chicago with the Tigers eventually topping the Lakers three sets to one.
The Lakers set the tone in the first set taking a 7-4 lead. They maintained the advantage for several points eventually making it 10-8, but the Tigers were able to tie things up at 12-12. Olivet seized their opportunity, establishing a lead, then maintaining it for the rest of the set. The Tigers closed strong at 25-17 and claimed the first set against Roosevelt.
Momentum swung in Roosevelt's favor for the second set. The Lakers took the lead early at 4-3 and did not look back. Riding the wave to a 16-10 lead, the Lakers finished the set up 25-20.
In set three Olivet Nazarene, re-established their play from set one and jumped out to a 12-4 advantage and storming out to a quick set three win.
The final set saw Roosevelt battle back, but the Tiger attack proved too much to overcome. The teams traded points to start things off until the Tigers broke away at 13-11. The Lakers fought to keep things close, but Olivet ended the match with a 25-20 set win.
