
Trinity Christian Too Much to Handle for Lakers in CCAC Conference Men's Volleyball Loss
CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team could not keep pace with visiting Trinity Christian College in CCAC Conference action, falling in straights sets on Wednesday, March 2 at the Goodman Center. The Lakers are now 0-13 overall and 0-7 in the CCAC this season.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 early in the opening set before Trinity Christian scored the next three points to take the lead for good. The Trolls then dominated the stanza, winning 25-9 to take a 1-0 match lead.
The second set was a competitive affair with the teams trading the lead multiple times in the early going. The Lakers broke an 8-8 tie with two straight points, including on a kill by Shawn McCarthy, to take a 10-8 advantage, but the Trolls came back to tie it at 10-10. Trinity Christian then broke an 11-11 tie with three consecutive points to jump ahead 14-11. Roosevelt cut the margin to one point at 18-17 before the visitors pulled away for a 25-20 set victory to lead the match by two sets.
The Trolls scored four consecutive points to break a 2-2 tie and take a 6-2 lead in the early going of the third set. The Lakers answered with the next two points, but Trinity Christian kept building on its lead and winning 25-13 to take the match in straights set.
