Men's Volleyball Drops CCAC Conference Match to St. Ambrose
DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team dropped a CCAC Conference match in straight sets to St. Ambrose University on Tuesday, March 1 at Lee Lohman Arena. After the loss, the Lakers remain winless with a 0-6 conference mark and 0-12 overall record this season.
The Lakers scored the first point of the match and the two teams were tied 2-2 before the Fighting Bees took the lead for good, winning the opening set 25-19.
In the second set, St. Ambrose jumped out to a 5-1 advantage, but Roosevelt came back with a 7-1 run to take an 8-6 lead. However, the Fighting Bees scored the next five points to go ahead 11-8 and continue their momentum for a 25-16 set win and 2-0 match lead.
Roosevelt led 4-2 early in the third set behind two kills from Axel Garcia and a kill by Shawn McCarthy, but the home team rallied once again to tie things up at 5-5 and then scored seven straight points to take a commanding 12-5 lead. The Lakers pulled to within four points at 21-17, but the Fighting Bees closed out the set with a 25-20 win to sweep the match.
