Men's Volleyball Falls to Olivet Nazarene in CCAC Conference Match

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team lost a CCAC Conference match to Olivet Nazarene University in straight sets on Thursday, February 24 at McHie Arena.  The Lakers defaulted the second set due to an injury reducing the team to six players, and trailed the Tigers 11-7 in the set at that time.  With the loss, Roosevelt is now 0-5 in the CCAC and 0-11 overall this season.

In the first set, the Lakers held a brief 4-3 lead, but the Tigers went ahead and built a 16-9 advantage.  Roosevelt then went on a 6-1 run to cut the deficit down to two points at 17-15, but Olivet Nazarene scored the final eight points of the set to win 25-15.

The Tigers kept up the momentum early in the second set, breaking a 2-2 tie to take a 7-2 lead.  With the Tigers leading 11-7, the Lakers suffered an injury and had to default the set as they were reduced to six players.  However, the injured Laker was able to return to the match, enabling the third set to be played.

Roosevelt broke a 7-7 tie with kills from Terrance Young Jr. and Shawn McCarthy to take a 9-7 lead in the third set and led 19-16 later in the stanza.  The Tigers came back with the next four points to take a 20-19 advantage, but the Lakers answered to lead 23-22.  Unfortunately, Olivet Nazarene scored the final three points to win 25-23 and take the match.
