Lakers Drop CCAC Conference Match to 15th Ranked St. Xavier in Men's Volleyball

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team traveled to the south side of Chicago to take on 15^th ranked St. Xavier University, dropping the CCAC Conference match in straight sets at the Shannon Center.  The Lakers are now 0-2 in conference play and 0-8 overall this season.

The Lakers started the first set strongly, opening up a 7-4 advantage and leading 10-9 before the Cougars scored five straights points to jump ahead 14-10.  St. Xavier continued to pull away, winning 25-14 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

St. Xavier raced out to a 7-3 lead in the second set, but Roosevelt made a run to cut the deficit to 8-7.  However, the Cougars took over the stanza to win once again by a 25-14 margin.

The Cougars scored the first four points of the third set and rolled out to a commanding 23-7 lead.  The Lakers then got a kill from Shawn McCarthy and three straight service aces by Jack Rothwell to build momentum, pulling to within 23-13, but the deficit was too much to overcome with RU falling 25-16 to drop the match.
