
Lakers Begin CCAC Conference Men's Volleyball Season With Loss to Lincoln
CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team opened up the 2022 CCAC Conference season with a straight set loss to Lincoln College on Tuesday, February 8 at the Goodman Center. The Lakers are now 0-1 to begin conference play and 0-3 overall in the young season.
The Lakers held a 5-4 lead early in the opening set, but the Lynx then raced out to an 18-9 lead. However, the Lakers came back with seven straight points to close the deficit to 18-16, but that would be as close as RU would get, dropping the set 25-20.
Roosevelt scored the first point of the second set and led 4-3 early on, but Lincoln scored the next four points to go ahead 7-4. The Lynx continued to build on their lead and went on to win 25-15 to take a 2-0 match lead.
The Lakers seemed to find a rhythm in the third set, overcoming a 5-2 deficit early on with a 10-2 run to take a 12-7 advantage. The Lynx then slowly chipped away at the Lakers lead and tied the set up at 19-19. Lincoln continued to shift the momentum, taking the stanza 25-21 and sweep the match.
