Men's Volleyball Can't Keep Pace With 11th Ranked Georgetown
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Roosevelt University men's volleyball team closed out its season opening road trip to Kentucky with a straight set loss to 11th ranked Georgetown College on Saturday, January 22 at Davis Reid Alumni Gym. The Lakers are now 0-2 to begin the year.
The Lakers came out strong to begin the match and went toe-to-toe with the 11th ranked Tigers in the opening set. Georgetown led early on and held an 11-7 advantage before Roosevelt fought back to take a 14-13 lead. However, the Tigers regained the lead and pulled away late for a 25-20 set win.
Georgetown scored the first eight points of the second set and never looked back, winning the second stanza convincingly by the score of 25-6 to take a 2-0 match lead.
In the third set, the Lakers stayed with the Tigers early on and the set was tied up at 7-7. However, the home team scored five straight points to take control and went on to win the set 25-10 to win the match in straight sets.
