Florida Christian Setter & Libero Anthony Diaz Commits to Roosevelt Men's Volleyball

CHICAGO – Roosevelt University Head Men's Volleyball Coach Nick Spallina has announced the signing of Anthony Diaz of Miami, Fla. for the 2020-21 season.

Diaz is a six-foot setter and libero who graduated from Florida Christian School in Miami this past spring. The incoming freshman was the team captain during his senior year and also served as the manager for the girl's varsity volleyball team at the school.

"We are extremely excited to sign Anthony," stated Coach Spallina. "He has a lot of potential to succeed at the college level, both on the court and in the classroom. Both his athleticism and high volleyball I.Q. are going to allow him to make an immediate impact at our university."

"I chose to attend Roosevelt University because it will take me out of my comfort zone and I really get to find out who I am as a volleyball player and as a student," said Diaz. "Being from Miami, I've never experienced a four season weather environment, and I can't wait for this and to play and represent the Lakers."

The new Laker will pursue a bachelor degree in psychology beginning this fall at Roosevelt.
