Eagles Trip Up Lakers In Tight Semifinals Match
ELGIN, Ill. – Roosevelt's men's tennis season came to a disappointing end Wednesday with a 4-1 loss to second-seeded Judson in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals in Elgin.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles with the second doubles pair also handily in Judson's favor. However, it was a different story in singles where the sets were hard to come by for both sides.
The Lakers' only point came courtesy of Yazid Benchegra's straight-sets victory and Roosevelt was deep into the third set in two other matches when Judson secured the win. Justus Peters was battling on serve in the third set when the Eagles claimed victory and Juan Pablo Espinosa was up an early break in his third set when the match was abandoned.
