Roosevelt Drops CCAC Match To Holy Cross

CHICAGO – Roosevelt dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup with Holy Cross 4-0 on Monday morning at XS Tennis in Chicago.

The struggles began early for the Lakers as they dropped both doubles matches that were contested. Jorge Gutierrez and Conor Pacelli lost 6-2 at the top doubles spot while Justin Magale and Sebastien Valdenaire lost 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Roosevelt again defaulted at No. 3 doubles.

The Lakers did have five players competing in singles for the first time all season, but none of them were able to win a set before the match ended. At the top singles position, Magale fell 6-0, 6-1, and Gutierrez lost by the same score line at No. 4 singles. The subsequent forfeit at No. 6 singles gave the Saints the official match victory.

In unfinished matches, Juan Pablo Espinosa was trailing 6-2, 3-2 at the second singles spot when the dual ended. Pacelli battled at No. 3 singles but was down 6-4, 1-0 while Valdenaire was on the verge of defeat at 6-0, 4-1 when the dual was completed.

The Lakers return to the courts Thursday against Judson for a noon first serve at XS Tennis.
