Lakers Return To Winning Ways Against Trolls

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Roosevelt made two early goals stand up Saturday in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action with a 3-1 win over Trinity Christian in Palos Heights.

The Lakers (4-4-1, 3-1-0 CCAC) were ready to go from the outset and took the game to the Trolls from the opening whistle. They earned a pair of corner kicks in the first three minutes then finally capitalized in the ninth minute on Valerio Joos' second goal of the season. Five minutes later, Eduardo Hernandez doubled the lead and Roosevelt continued to threaten for a third goal in the first half.

Trinity Christian stole a goal back early in the second half, just minutes after Eric Carvajal denied the Trolls on a penalty kick attempt 2:36 into the half. However, the Lakers held the Trolls to just two more shot attempts over the final 40 minutes with neither of them troubling Carvajal. The sophomore goalie made three saves and the Roosevelt defense was credited with a fourth stop to preserve the victory.

Adam Przytula sealed the game in the 74th minute with his second goal of the season after blasting home a penalty kick of his own. Roosevelt and Trinity Christian tied with seven shot attempts each, but the Lakers put five of their attempts on net while the Trolls managed just four on target.

The Lakers return to action Saturday for a matchup at Morris Field against Olivet Nazarene at 2:30 p.m. as part of the tripleheader in Arlington Heights to celebrate Roosevelt University's Homecoming Weekend.
