Men's Soccer Defeats St. Ambrose for Second Straight CCAC Conference Victory

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Roosevelt University men's soccer team won their second straight CCAC Conference match with a 3-2 victory over St. Ambrose University on Wednesday, September 21 at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.  The Lakers are now 2-1 in conference play and 3-3 overall this season.

The Lakers had the advantage offensively in the first half, holding an 8-3 edge in shots in the stanza.  However, the game remained scoreless for the majority of the half before RU scored two goals in the final 12 minutes.  In the 34th minute, Eduardo Hernandez headed in a cross from Otitolouwa Ojo to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead, and Sebastian Rodriguez buried a free kick with just 22 seconds left on the clock for a 2-0 half-time lead.

St. Ambrose cut the margin to 2-1 with a shot from outside the box that found the back of the net in the 63rd minute, but the Lakers restored their two-goal lead in the 83rd minute when Alan Rubio scored off an assist from Omar Flores.  The Fighting Bees made things interesting with another goal in the 87th minute to make it a one goal game, but RU held off the home team in the final three minutes to earn the 3-2 conference victory.
