Men's Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Three Games With 1-0 Victory Over St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill. – The Roosevelt University men's soccer team pushed its winning streak to three games with a 1-0 CCAC Conference victory over the University of St. Francis on Saturday, September 25 at Joliet Memorial Stadium.  The Lakers are now 3-1 in the CCAC and 3-2-1 overall this season.

The Lakers dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Fighting Saints 8-3 and holding a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.  However, neither team was able to find the back of the net during the first 45 minutes of play and the game remained scoreless at the half.

The game became a physical one in the second half with six total yellow cards and a red card given out to St. Francis.  Before the USF ejection, Roosevelt took a 1-0 lead when Eduardo Hernandez tallied his third goal of the season on assists from Marvin Lopez and Luis Arreola.  That goal would prove to be the difference as the Lakers held off a late push from the Fighting Saints, including two one-on-one saves by goalkeeper Mario Graciano, to earn the 1-0 conference victory.
