BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University men's soccer team battled Jamestown University (N.D.) to a 2-2 double overtime tie on Monday, September 6 in the Olivet Nazarene University Labor Day Tournament. The Lakers are now 0-1-1 on the year.
The Lakers found themselves down 2-0 at the half after allowing goals in the 12th and 42nd minutes. However, RU's Eduardo Hernandez cut the lead in half in the 58th minute off an Omar Flores assist, and Sebastian Rodriguez leveled the game on an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute.
With just 17 seconds left in regulation, the Lakers earned a penalty kick with a chance to win the game, but Luis Arreola's shot was saved by Jamestown goalkeeper Mateo Salazar, sending the game to overtime. In the extra periods, neither team was able to find the back of the net with RU holding a 6-3 shot advantage in the extra 20 minutes of play.
