Men's Soccer Rolls Over Calumet St. Joseph for First Victory of the Season
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University men's soccer team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph by the score of 6-0 in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday, March 24 at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill. The victory was the first of the season for the Lakers and also the first victory of Oscar Rivero's coaching career.
The Lakers pressured the Crimson Wave from the opening whistle and were rewarded in the 30th minute when Todor Simonovic (FR/Belgrade, Serbia) put in a loose ball from a corner kick for a 1-0 lead. The Roosevelt offense erupted in the second half with Anthony Aldape (JR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) scoring back-to-back goals in the 56th and 58th minutes, including a 23-yard rifle into the top corner. Edmond Montana headed home an Alan Ayala (JR/Calumet City, Ill. ) corner kick in the 67th minute and Ezequiel Rivera (FR/Chicago, Ill.) added two goals in the 75th and 84th minutes for the 6-0 final score.
