Gutierrez Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete For Second Straight Year
CHICAGO – Alvaro Pardo Gutierrez was named an Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete for a second consecutive year, the organization announced Monday.
The senior from Spain finishd in the top-10 four times during the 2023-24 season, which included a pair of top-five finishes. He captured third place at the NAIA Midwest Invite in September then took home fourth at the Cardinal Classic in March. Gutierrez also recorded a hole in one during a round at the Egypt Valley Championship in Michigan back in October.
Per the NAIA, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
