Peluchon Carves Up TPC Deere Run At NAIA Midwest Invite

SILVIS, Ill. – Freshman Thomas Peluchon set a school record by carding a 36-hole total of 9-under par to easily take home medalist honors at the NAIA Midwest Invite on Tuesday at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The Lakers finished in third place as a team with a score of +25, four shots behind Marian and Midland, which tied for the top spot. Senior Alvaro Pardo Gutierrez also finished in third place in the event by shooting 1-over par for the event. He followed up a 3-over 74 on Monday with a 2-under 69 on Tuesday as one of two players to shoot under 70 in any round. The other player on that list was Peluchon, who shot a 65 on Tuesday to pair with his 68 on Monday to win the event by nine shots. 

Marc Waller made his season debut at the NAIA Midwest Invite and finished 36th individually at 14-over par. The freshman shot a 75 on Monday to find himself near the top of the leaderboard before shooting an 81 in the final round. Charlie Curtis rebounded by a rough start to the tournament to shoot a 76 on Tuesday and finish in a tie for 66th at 24-over. Justin Rodriguez followed right behind with an 85 and 82 to finish at 25-over in the event.

Roosevelt will return to the course on Oct. 9 when it plays the first of two days at the Holy Cross Saints Classic at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.
