Three Lakers Golfers Named NAIA Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three players from the Roosevelt men's golf program were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced Monday.

For the third straight year, Nicolas Paviet earned the distinction after rejoining the program for the spring season. Jared Tjelmeland won the honor for the second straight year while Alvaro Pardo Gutierrez was honored for his work in the classroom for the first time. It is the third straight season the Lakers golf team has had at least three Scholar-Athletes on the roster.

The Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
