Lakers Place Three on Postseason All-CCAC Teams

CHICAGO – Three members of the Roosevelt men's golf team earned postseason all-conference honors from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the league announced Thursday.

Nicolas Paviet returned to the Lakers in the spring and earned first-team honors for a second time in his Roosevelt career after finishing in the top 15 four times in his five events. The 2021 CCAC Player of the Year shot a team-best scoring average of 76.7 during the spring season, topping out with a tie for second at the Cougar Spring Preview on March 28 and 29 at Metamora Fields Golf Club. That performance earned the Lyon, France native CCAC Golfer of the Week honors for the second time in his career.

Alvaro Pardo Gutierrez earned a CCAC postseason accolade for the third straight year with a spot on the all-conference second team. The 2021 CCAC Freshman of the Year was a first-team selection last season and had another stellar season for the Lakers this year. He finished in the top 10 three times in six events and averaged 77.1 for his 14 rounds in the spring season. The native of San Sebastian, Spain also earned CCAC Golfer of the Week accolades this season after finishing seventh at the Wolf Pack Spring Invitational on March 6 and 7.

Jared Tjelmeland rounded out the trio of all-conference honorees with his first career postseason award from the CCAC. Hailing from Ely, Iowa, Tjelmeland finished tied for first at the CCAC Championships before losing on the second playoff hole. The senior also had a top-10 finish at the Wolf Pack Spring Invitational and averaged a 78.1 in 14 rounds this spring.

The Lakers will compete next week in the NAIA Men's Golf Championships in Mesa, Arizona after winning the CCAC for the third consecutive year. Roosevelt will be paired with Truett-McConnell University (Ga.) and Friends University (Kan.) for the first two rounds before the cut. The trios will begin teeing off at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday on the first hole in the opening round and 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday off the 10th hole for the second round.
