Roosevelt Comes In At No. 14 In Latest NAIA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Roosevelt fell one spot in the latest NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll, sliding to No. 14 in the rankings released Wednesday.
The Lakers (17-3) were just two points away from sustaining their No. 13 ranking and are 17 points ahead of LSU Shreveport at No. 15. Roosevelt won its first three games after being bumped up to 13th before falling 69-64 Saturday at Calumet St. Joseph. The Lakers are the only member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference that earned a spot in the poll this week as Olivet Nazarene dropped out of the poll.
This year's squad already holds two wins over teams that are receiving votes, both of which came on the road. The first was the December 9 victory over the Tigers in Bourbonnais. The other is Madonna, which was the first team left out of the poll, and Roosevelt beat the Crusaders in November in Michigan. The Lakers will have a second crack at Olivet Nazarene on Wednesday with the Tigers visiting the Goodman Center for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
Grace once again claimed all the first-place votes to remain atop this week's poll and the top-five remained the same as well. Langston out of Oklahoma is No. 2 followed by the College of Idaho, Oklahoma Wesleyan and Indiana Wesleyan.
