Men's Basketball Earns 64-57 CCAC Conference Victory Over Holy Cross

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Roosevelt University men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-57 CCAC Conference victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) on Wednesday, December 1 at McKenna Arena.  The win raised the Lakers conference record to 3-2 and their overall record to 5-3 on the year.

The Lakers fell behind 6-2 to open the contest, but got things going to take a 12-9 lead on Lucas Jordan three-pointer and extended that margin to 17-11 after an Anthony Martinez three-pointer and Justus Mouton layup.  Roosevelt maintained the lead for the rest of the first half, leading by as many as 11 points at 32-21 with 6:04 remaining, but the Lakers did not score another point with the Saints cutting the advantage down to 32-28 at the half.

Holy Cross made it a one-point game at 32-31 just under three minutes into the second half, but Roosevelt scored the next seven points behind four points from Matt Myers and three points from Josh Redic to build a 39-31 lead with 15:07 left to play.  The Lakers once again extended their lead to 11 points at 44-33 on another Jordan three-pointer with 12:03 to go, but the Saints slowly cut the deficit down to 53-51 with 3:35 left on the clock.  However, Roosevelt then went on a 10-2 run to take control of the game in the final minutes and take home the 64-57 conference victory.
