Men's Basketball Remains Unbeaten in CCAC Conference Play With 83-74 Win Over Indiana Northwest

GARY, Ind. – The Roosevelt University men's basketball team defeated Indiana University Northwest by the score of 83-74 on the road on Wednesday, November 10 to remain undefeated in CCAC Conference play.  The win raised the Lakers conference record to 2-0 and their overall record to 2-1 on the year.

The RedHawks scored the first six points of the game and led 8-3 before Caleb Brown and Josh Redic made back-to-back buckets to make it an 8-7 game.  Indiana Northwest built an 18-10 advantage, but Lucas Jordan hit consecutive three-pointers to bring the Lakers to within 18-16 with 11:05 left in the first half.  Jordan then hit another trey less than a minute later to give RU its first lead of the game at 21-20, and the two teams traded the lead for the next six minutes, but the RedHawks took a 35-31 lead with 4:23 to go and ended the half up 38-33.

The Lakers opened the second half by scoring the first seven points to regain the lead at 40-38 behind a dunk and layup from Ayomide Ajiboye and a three-pointer by Redic.  Once again, the two teams traded the lead numerous times before Ayomide scored on a layup to put Roosevelt up 69-67 with 4:50 to play, a lead that the visitors would not relinquish the rest of the way.  The Lakers increased their lead to 75-69, but the RedHawks pulled to with 75-73 with 2:35 remaining.  However, Ayomide and Justus Mouton scored the next two baskets and Redic hit a clutch three-pointer in the final minute to seal RU's 83-74 victory.
