Men's Basketball Upended On The Road At Trinity International

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Freshman Josh Redic continued post impressive numbers off the bench with team highs of 16 points and seven rebounds, but the Roosevelt men's basketball team could not stop a hot-shooting Trinity International team at the Trojans' house as the Lakers fell 91-74 on Wednesday.

Redic went 6-for-12 from the field in 21 minutes, while Bennett Fuzak scored 14 points and Matt Myers added 12 for the Lakers (1-6, 1-2 CCAC).

Ron Pehka scored a game-high 24 points while Thadeous Johnson added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (2-4, 1-2 CCAC), who shot 54 percent in the opening period before upping that after intermission with a 63 percent clip.

TIU outscored the Lakers 19-7 in the middle of the first half and used another late run in that stanza to take a double-digit lead into the break.

Roosevelt got within six early in the second half after Redic connected from downtown, but TIU used its strong night from the floor to up its advantage and hold the Lakers at bay.

"We didn't come out very strong and had to play behind all game," Roosevelt head coach Joe Griffin said. "We had a couple of bright spots on offense but defensively we were bad. Trinity has good talent, and Johnson and Pehka really hurt us."

Roosevelt heads to Notre Dame, Ind. on Saturday to take on Holy Cross.
