Tenner Earns Second MSFA Player of the Week Honor Of Season

CHICAGO – Fresh off rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns in Roosevelt's 28-24 win over then-No. 17 St. Francis, senior running back Tyler Tenner has been named the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Tenner was a workhorse for the Lakers against the Fighting Saints, rushing 27 times in the contest. He capped off Roosevelt's nearly seven-minute opening drive with his first touchdown of the day from a yard out. The senior from Racine, Wis. added a second score on a tremendous effort in the early fourth quarter when he bounced outside and ran it in from 13 yards out.

Of course, Tenner saved his best for last with three critical plays on the game-winning drive. The senior caught a 13-yard pass on the first play of the drive then bullied his way inside the 5-yard line later. He finished it off with a 3-yard touchdown with 1:12 left to give the Lakers the lead for good.

It is the fourth time in the last five weeks that Roosevelt has had at least one MSFA Midwest Player of the Week, and the third time in his career that Tenner has been named Offensive Player of the Week. Tenner has eclipsed 100 yards on the ground in five straight weeks and scored at least three touchdowns in three of those contests.

Tenner ranks second nationally with 748 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, and ranks seventh in the NAIA with more than 143 all-purpose yards per game. He will have a chance to add to his totals Saturday when the Lakers take a break from conference play for a trip to Bethel (Tenn.) for a showdown with the top-10 Wildcats at noon.
