Hatter Named MSFA Defensive Player Of Week

CHICAGO – Sophomore defensive tackle Ryan Hatter added his name to the list of Roosevelt honorees Monday when he was named the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Defensive Player of the Week.

The LaGrange Park native came up with a career-best 2.5 sacks and 3 tackles for loss during Saturday's 30-17 win over St. Ambrose at Morris Field. Hatter was a disruptive force the entire day for the Lakers in anchoring a strong performance from the Roosevelt defensive line. His ability to penetrate into the backfield helped keep the Fighting Bees to just 210 total yards and led to five total sacks for the Lakers in the game.

"Ryan really showed the disruptive nature of his playing style at important points in the football game for us," Lakers head coach Jared Williamson said. "This was his best overall performance as a Laker and hopefully a game he can build on as we get into our conference schedule."

It is the first career weekly honor for Hatter, who became the fourth Lakers player this season to earn weekly honors from the MSFA. It is the third time in the last five seasons that Roosevelt has had two different players earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.
