Football Scores Early and Often, Defeats Trinity International 49-14 for MSFA Midwest League Win

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University football team defeated Trinity International University by a final score of 49-14 in a Mid-States Football Association Midwest League game on Saturday, October 16 at Morris Field. The Lakers evened their overall record to 3-3 and improved their MSFA Midwest League record to 2-1 as the result of their second consecutive victory and a season-high in points scored.

In a game that was moved to Roosevelt's Morris Field in the middle of the week due to weather-related field conditions at TIU's Leslie Frazier Field, the Lakers looked right at home in jumping out to a 28-0 advantage.

Jack Sheehan tossed three first-half touchdown passes, and rookie Jayden McFadden caught two of those throws for paydirt. McFadden's TD grabs were the first two of his collegiate career.

Ke'von Johnson followed up his program-record 302-yard day at Missouri Baptist last week with a first-quarter touchdown catch that opened the scoring and a second-quarter touchdown run.

Trinity International finally got on the board in the waning moments of the second quarter on a fumble recovery in the end zone that cut the Lakers' lead down to 28-7.

Roosevelt made it a four-score game once again early in the third quarter on Blaize Griffin's 16-yard rushing touchdown, but TIU responded shortly after that on a 73-yard TD catch by Marc Wallace.

Griffin struck again in the third, as he made an impressive over-the-shoulder grab on a 12-yard pass from Sheehan to make it a 42-14 RU lead.

The points continued to pile on for the Green and White, as Tyler Tenner capped a nine–play, 82-yard clock-eating drive with a 19-yard rushing touchdown that put the Lakers up 49-14 for what would turn out to be the final margin of victory.
