Lakers Host Chicagoland Dance & Cheer Nationals Showcase
CHICAGO – Six schools will descend on the Goodman Center on April 7 for the Chicagoland Dance & Cheer Nationals Send Off Showcase.
This is the first time Roosevelt has hosted this event, which will feature six teams that will head to the NDA/NCA Colligate Nationals Championships from April 11-13 in Daytona Beach, Fla. In addition to the Lakers, the other performers hail from Calumet St. Joseph, DePaul, Millikin, Loyola (Chicago) and Illinois State.
Roosevelt is the defending national champions in the NAIA cheer division while the dance team will try to improve upon last year's third-place finish with two routines in Daytona Beach.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for the Showcase and the first performance will be at 5:30 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed on the Roosevelt University YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@RooseveltUniversity/streams
"I am very excited to be at the helm of these two wonderful programs, which have worked so hard to not only be at all home football games and men's/women's basketball games but also to learn and perfect their nationals' routines throughout the 2023-24 academic year," Roosevelt dance coach and spirit coordinator Lindsay Jones said. "The chance to showcase the incredible talent on our roster for a hometown audience is very exciting, and we are honored to be able to host this wonderful event to highlight the Chicagoland cheer and dance community."
